The Ultra HD Forum will use IBC 2019 in Amsterdam to release the latest version (v2.1) of its Guidelines, which now includes plugfest-based refinements and standards-based enhancements such as DTS-UHD audio, and more detailed case studies like the BBC's UltraHD coverage of the 2019 Football Association Challenge Cup.

The Forum will present new demonstrations of the technologies described in the Guidelines to its exhibit in IBC's Future Zone. Visitors will be able to compare the effects of HDR, HFR and different video resolutions as well as view a demo of DVB-compliant Dolby Vision. Dutch network operator KPN, together with Harmonic (NASDAQ:HLIT), will provide a technology demonstration of 8K streaming over KPN's network.

Also in the Forum's booth, France-Télévisions will be available for short briefings about its 8K demonstration of French Open tennis matches.

Ultra HD Forum President Thierry Fautier said: "As operators around the world commercially deploy both HDR and NGA, we are preparing the industry for a next phase that will include HFR and CAE. The Forum will show the current capabilities of 8K vs. existing 4K services, which should trigger valuable discussion at the show."
