Comcast Business (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has created a new segment to target U.S. government and public sector organizations, signifying the addition of U.S. federal government into Comcast Business' growth strategy.

Under the leadership of recently appointed Vice President of Federal Government Sales Kenneth Folderauer, the new segment will be dedicated to providing communications solutions to government agencies. In this role, Folderauer will lead the sales and go-to-market strategy while overseeing the development of a U.S. public sector-focused sales channel within Comcast Business.

"Since 2006, Comcast Business has continued to steadily move up market from SMB customers to mid-market to large enterprise, providing business solutions of all sizes and scale to some of the most influential and largest private brands and critical community pacemakers," said Bill Stemper, president of Comcast Business. "The appointment of Ken Folderauer represents the beginning of our next move: providing communications technologies to government agencies."

Folderauer brings more than 35 years of telecommunications and public sector experience, holding various positions at Time Warner, CenturyLink, British Telecomm, Qwest Communication's Government Services Group and Verizon Communications. Prior to joining Comcast Business, he led Oracle's National Security Group's Communications Services Division.

"Citizens across the country increasingly demand higher quality, more digitally forward public sector services," said Folderauer. "I am proud to join Comcast Business as we embark upon this strategic opportunity to help federal agencies adapt to the digital era."
