A roundup of vendor and operator news from around the globe. Today's edition focuses on Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Germany

Vodafone Germany has chosen Metrological to enable integrated apps and premium OTT content to the operator's GigaTV platform.

GigaTV users will have access to a variety of OTT services as well as niche content and localized apps, integrated directly into the GigaTV UI, through the Metrological Application Platform. Metrological enables operators to offer OTT content without leaving the TV experience. Metrological's back-office gives Vodafone Germany the ability to anticipate the changing content preferences of its TV viewers.

The Metrological Application Platform includes a back-office product suite for onboarding, monetizing and optimizing the life cycle of web and native apps across set-top boxes. The Application Platform supports features such as unified search, contextuality and second screen support. Vodafone Germany is able to source content from the Metrological App Library that offers 300+ TV apps. An open SDK is intended to enable quick app development for content service providers.

Europe

TKS is using several OpenVault cloud-based solutions to gain greater visibility into broadband usage across its networks to better manage and forecast bandwidth capacity in Europe, primarily in Germany and Italy. TKS is a Vodafone company that provides American TV programming, telephone, Internet and wireless services to U.S. military communities in Europe.

TKS is using OpenVault's Operations & Analytics module to observe real-time subscriber usage patterns and predict network capacity needs and OpenVault's Marketing Dashboard for visibility into subscriber, package, and market usage metrics, such as usage distribution across its subscriber base, average usage per subscriber by package, and top upstream usage subscribers.

Japan

Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) has selected Verimatrix Verspective Intelligence to generate usage reporting and analysis for its VOD services, providing visibility into networks and devices used by more than 3.8 million subscribers across Japan.

Verspective Intelligence is designed to extract data from delivery systems regarding VOD content to enable data analysis and reporting of system and content performance. The software-as-a-service (SaaS) analytics platform will be deployed via the Verimatrix Secure Cloud and can be upgraded to collect and normalize data from subscriber devices in the future by leveraging the Verspective RT data collection solution.

Concurrent Content Solutions Corp. (CCSC) is the system integrator for the project.

Belgium

Teleste has reached an agreement with Telenet for supplying optical network products as part of an upgrade project to install 1.2 GHz capable equipment in the optical section of the access network. Under the agreement, Teleste will supply optical transmitters from its HDO product range and optical nodes from its AC product range. The deployment is intended to enable delivery of new DOCSIS 3.1 broadband services.

The deployments are scheduled to happen over a period of three years. The agreement is an extension to a previous framework agreement with Telenet.

Russia

SeaChange International (NASDAQ: SEAC) and Russian-based video operator TotalVideo have entered into an agreement to develop a multi-operator, multi-tenant hybrid OTT/DVB/IPTV platform to enable video and cable providers in Russia to offer multiscreen services.

TotalVideo has agreed to develop its new service using SeaChange's PanoramiC platform, and plans to offer the new video platform to service providers across Russia and eastern Europe. The service platform is intended to support live, linear, and on-demand content across a variety of devices, both fixed and mobile.

The PanoramiC platform is a cloud-based video management and delivery platform, combining the components of the SeaChange cFlow video management and monetization portfolio with streaming solution elements from vendors ATEME, ATES Networks, Broadpeak, and castLabs.

India

DishTV, a direct-to-home (DTH) video service provider in India, will deploy the MediaKind AVP 4000 video processing platform to deliver video to more than 23.5 million subscribers. The AVP 4000 is part of MediaKind's Aquila family of solutions, which forms part of the wider MediaKind Universe portfolio.
