The SRT Alliance, supporting the SRT Open Source Project, says 39 more companies have recently endorsed the SRT protocol for low latency video streaming, including Imagine Communications, Net Insight, Red Bee Media, Telestream.
SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) is an open-source protocol developed by Haivision, which is intended to allow broadcasters and streamers to deliver low-latency streams across the public Internet.
"We are pleased to support SRT technology and join the SRT Alliance," said David Heppe, commercial general manager, Targeted Delivery, at Imagine Communications. "We see SRT as a valuable tool to help our customers more reliably transport their content into our cloud-based targeted advertising workflows."
"We are increasingly distributing video for high-value live events, often on a temporary basis, for customers that demand high quality over secure and reliable networks," said Steve Russell, head of media management and OTT at Red Bee Media. "SRT enables us to expand our customers' reach while adhering to our preference for open standards."
Since SRT became open source at NAB 2017, more than 200 companies, including Microsoft, Comcast, EBU/Eurovision, Harmonic, Ateme, MediaKind, Brightcove, and Kaltura, have joined the SRT Alliance.
At NAB 2019 in Las Vegas in April, more than 60 SRT Alliance member companies will be exhibiting.
