Taco Bell has selected Comcast Business (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Enterprise Solutions to provide managed business services, including guest WiFi, at more than 6,200 Taco Bell company and franchise locations across the country.

Comcast Business will provide Taco Bell with services including:

  • A new in-store Managed WiFi network and Managed Router solution for each restaurant capable of 20 Mbps downloads and 3 Mbps uploads minimum
  • 4G business continuity at each location
  • Redundant connections at each location and to the network and corporate data centers
  • A distributed IPsec VPN network, providing the ability to collect and exchange large amounts of data at high speeds across Taco Bell locations

From an operations standpoint, Comcast will support Taco Bell's need to share corporate sales figures and trend statistics and distribute electronic marketing and training materials to franchisees.

"Comcast Business understands the unique network demands of national restaurant chains and looks forward to supporting Taco Bell, one of the technology leaders of the fast food industry," said Glenn Katz, vice president and general manager of Enterprise Solutions at Comcast Business. "By understanding the ever-changing demands of this highly competitive industry and having the largest high-capacity network infrastructure in the country, Comcast is in a unique position to provide and manage all aspects of a service deployment within the quick serve restaurant (QSR) sector, whether they are a smaller restaurant group or a national chain with several thousand locations."

Comcast Business' Enterprise Services unit, created in 2015, targets Fortune 1000 companies and other large enterprises that have multiple locations nationwide. The organization offers managed enterprise solutions that include broadband, Ethernet, voice, router, security, business continuity and WiFi.

In other Comcast news, the company plans to increase the speeds of some of its residential Internet tiers in Florida over the next several weeks. Downstream speeds for the company's Xfinity Blast! tier will increase from 75 Mbps to 100 Mbps, while Performance tier speeds will more than double from 25 Mbps to 60 Mbps. The Performance Starter tier will boost from 10 Mbps to 25 Mbps.

Rollouts of the new speeds are scheduled to begin in early November and continue through mid-December, and will be available across all of Comcast's Florida footprint.
