Dutch cable operator Kabelnoord plans to deploy Amino's MOVE end-to-end multiscreen video platform as part of a major rollout of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network.

The operator already provides a mix of DVB-C and fiber-based services to almost 30,000 customers in Friesland and plans to soon undertake a major expansion of its footprint in the region, having secured a contract to provide FTTH to a further 20,000 homes.

In addition, Kabelnoord plans to deploy its TV services to an adjacent broadband network operator in Groningen where 15,000 homes gain access to video features including catchup, network PVR and multiscreen delivery.

Amino's MOVE platform is designed to enable operators to deliver TV Everywhere including live, on-demand, catchup and cloud-recorded content over any IP network.

Kabelnoord plans to deploy the platform - including transcoding, media backend, web services and a new user interface - to deliver services across Amino's Kamai 7 technology, powered by the Amino Enable software stack, as well as Android and IOS.

Kabelnoord Chief Technology Officer Anton van der Hoek said: "This is a significant expansion of both the reach of our offering and the range of exciting new TV experiences we can offer both existing and new customers. We have been impressed by Amino's innovative MOVE platform and the strength of the team who have worked closely with us in the development of our planning for this important strategic project."

Amino CEO Donald McGarva said: "Kabelnoord is a real innovator, and we're very pleased to partner with them on this exciting rollout of new TV everywhere services across their expanding fiber deployments. MOVE's proven operator performance makes it the ideal platform for operators looking to maximize their network investment and attract new customers with new services that are closely aligned with how today's consumers demand entertainment."

The new service is scheduled to launch in the second half of the year.
