Web on TV Edges Upward

According to a study by NPD DisplaySearch, desktop PCs and laptops are still the primary source for viewing online content, but mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones are gaining ground, as are connected TVs and peripherals such as Blu-ray players and set-top boxes. The study indicates that 18% of consumers surveyed in 14 regions are accessing online content daily on their TV sets, and 25% view online content on TV several times a week.

Among consumers who do not view online content via TV, 44% said they have no interest in viewing that content on their TVs, and about 30% indicated they do not own the necessary devices. Of these respondents, if given the possibility of viewing online content on their TV, a third said they would be interested in doing so.
