The fiber-optic networks that connect America’s homes and businesses to broadband services enable advanced-technology connectivity for families and workers. Behind the scenes, however, the construction projects through which these networks are built can be fraught with low-tech processes and tools that can lead to delays and re-work. This report provides information from service providers as well as engineer/furnish/install (EF&I) contractors. It reports on these organizations’ collective experiences throughout the fiber-network-construction process and identifies areas where digital technologies can be part of the solution for them.
