Google Fiber (NASDAQ:GOOG) is updating its Fiber TV service. The video service, launched in 2012, is getting a new user interface (UI) designed for improved search and discovery. It now includes ratings and reviews information, a reorganized DVR, and personalized recommendations.

The search giant-cum-broadband provider has been taking some heat lately over Fiber TV's subscriber numbers, which are reported to be less than 70,000. Google recently bought video software provider Anvato, whose technology Google said at the time it plans to use in its own video products, and also to sell to other video providers. Whether Anvato technology is involved in the new Fiber TV UI was not immediately clear.
