According to ABI Research, a jump in cable and satellite set-top box shipments in Asia-Pacific markets is being driven by cable digitization in India and China, as well as China's rollout of digital satellite boxes to its rural households. The research house expects set-top demand in the Asia-Pacific and Eastern Europe regions to outstrip that of the rest of the world in the next 5 years. APAC in particular is expected to make up 50% of a 220-million set-top market by 2013.
