FCC Votes 5-0 to Sunset 'Viewability' Rule

The FCC has voted unanimously to sunset the "viewability" rule, which mandates that cable operators with hybrid systems carry digital must-carry signals in an analog format for the benefit of analog-service customers. In 2007, the FCC adopted the Viewability Order, which established a rule to ensure that after the DTV transition, cable subscribers with analog TV sets would continue to be able to view broadcast stations, as required by statute. The full report and order is available at http://www.fcc.gov/document/viewability-rule-sunsets-affordable-boxes-or-analog-carriage-allowed.
