Team-Ups for TiVo, UEI, Verimatrix, Akamai

At IBC in Amsterdam, a number of vendor team-ups have been announced, including TiVo (NASDAQ:TIVO), Universal Electronics (NASDAQ:UEIC), Verimatrix and Akamai Technologies.

Universal Electronics' wholly owned subsidiary, Universal Electronics BV, will produce and supply the TiVo "peanut" remote to designated TiVo service provider customers globally. The first TiVo/UEI remote controls are expected to begin shipping in December.

The TiVo/Verimatrix partnership will incorporate the security features of Verimatrix' Video Content Authority System (VCAS) into TiVo's video service.

Verimatrix also announced a deal to integrate Akamai's Sola Media Solutions' client technologies into components of the Verimatrix VCAS. The solution combines revenue security from Verimatrix with Akamai's delivery acceleration and audience analytics technologies.
