ATEME Kyrion CM5000e video encoder enables sustainable UHD contribution

Nov. 18, 2021
Built with sustainability in mind, ATEME says its Kyrion CM5000e encoder "encompasses ecological, economical and environmental benefits, enabling lower power consumption, resulting in a lower carbon footprint and increased green credentials for adopters."

ATEME, a specialist in video delivery platforms for broadcast, cable TV, DTH, IPTV and OTT services, today announced it has launched its new-generation Kyrion encoder, the CM5000e, to enable sustainable UHD contribution for companies in the video industry.

Built with sustainability in mind, ATEME says its Kyrion CM5000e encoder "encompasses ecological, economical and environmental benefits, enabling lower power consumption, resulting in a lower carbon footprint and increased green credentials for adopters."

Per the company, driving these environmental benefits are the new encoder’s dense integration capabilities, which enable both UHD remuxing and satellite or IP outputs from a single box, eliminating the need for extra hardware equipment.

ATEME contends the Kyrion CM5000e provides a future-proof way for providers to increase video quality for premium content in UHD, while operational efficiency is also enhanced due to the solution’s compact, all-in-one-box deployment.

The company says the system includes all necessary features for live events transmission while being easily accessible and simple to use. The platform's short booting time and low-latency encoding enable a wide range of use cases, with main applications in sports events, news coverage and entertainment.

According to a press statement, the introduction of new Kyrion encoder paves the way for IP migration in the future with Zixi, SRT and RIST solutions as well as SMPTE-2110, and enables content protection with the latest industry innovations, such as the BISS-CA standard and dynamic watermarking technologies.

Julien Mandel, Contribution & Distribution Segment Solution Marketing Senior Director at ATEME, concluded, “The introduction of more sustainable practices is critical in the video industry and ATEME’s solutions are well equipped to meet the challenge. We have an unmatched record in developing encoders that achieve the highest video quality levels at the lowest bitrates. Now, with Kyrion CM5000e, we are also pioneering sustainable solutions in the contribution and distribution market, and we’re committed to making a positive environmental impact."
