The newest Tektronix video content monitor, the Sentry ABR, is a monitoring solution for post-fragmented adaptive bitrate (ABR) streams. It supports both 1 GigE and 10 GigE interfaces and can process up to 250 top manifests, each supporting up to 12 representations of each program. Beginning with ingest at the headend, Sentry can monitor all received transport streams to identify audio and video errors in the content before they are passed to subscribers.
Any errors created when MPEG-2 is transcoded into the H.264 codec are multiplied as eight to 12 profiles of each stream are created to deliver multiscreen TV Everywhere. Tektronix says the Sentry ABR has the computational resources required to perform complex real-time quality analysis on each H.264 stream. The granularity of the tool is what one Diamonds Judge says "sets it apart" in its field and makes it a monitor that the industry "really need(s) to manage IP video."www.tek.comSee them at Cable-Tec Expo, Booth 529Return to the BTR Diamond Technology Reviews Elite.
