Universal Electronics (UEI) (NASDAQ:UEIC) is producing TiVo's (NASDAQ:TIVO) new advanced voice remote control compatible with TiVo devices in North America.
The new remote uses UEI hardware and software and works with the TiVo service to provide universal search across live TV, on-demand and streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.
The custom-developed RF-enhanced remote is the first voice remote for TiVo developed by Universal Electronics. The remote uses voice commands to let users change channels, search for shows and movies, get content recommendations and control their viewing experience.
Technical features include:
- Embedded UE878 dual RF chip
- Dedicated Netflix button
- Modeless IR control operates between the TiVo device and all other connected devices including the TV, AV receiver, DVD player, etc. with two IR LEDs for enhanced range and angle

In related TiVo news, the company announced smart home integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for interconnectivity with all of a customer's smart devices.
