ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) has introduced an RDK-B voice gateway for retail sale via Amazon.com and SURFboard.com, with other retailers to come.

The the SURFboard SVG2482AC Voice Gateway, priced at $239.99, features a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, integrated 802.11ac WiFi, voice functionality, and RDK-B software approved for use on the XFINITY network to manage home-networking interfaces, device management, and diagnostics. The company says the SVG2482AC is the first retail gateway to support RDK-B.

"Our new SURFboard SVG2482AC Voice Gateway is designed to deliver XFINITY subscribers an exceptional experience. It combines top-shelf Wi-Fi connectivity, super-fast download speeds, unmatched voice reliability and service enhancements through RDK-B," said Sandy Howe, ARRIS' SVP and GM, Consumer Products Group.

Other features include:

  • 24 downstream and 8 upstream DOCSIS 3.0 SC-QAM channels to support downstream speeds of up to 1Gbps
  • Four Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • Two telephony ports
  • 3x3 802.11ac WiFi radios for combined wireless speeds of up to 1.75Gbps
  • Optional battery (sold separately) backup
