The idea of “network convergence” has been around for many years: having multiple types of networks, protocols and more, running through the same physical infrastructure.  But in addition to meeting today’s needs, an outside plant physical network needs to last for decades or even generations before requiring a rebuild.  How do we “converge” not just the networks of today, but those of an unforeseeable future?
