Dean Stoneback joined SCTE in 2014 after having more than 25 years with General Instrument, Motorola and ARRIS Group. With SCTE, he is responsible for the development of standards, operational practices and training material that can help cable efficiently and quickly deliver services that can attract and retain customers.
Prior to joining SCTE, Dean had served as senior technical marketing manager with ARRIS Group and as senior manager, systems engineering, access networks for Motorola. Throughout his career he managed teams of engineers and technicians across such areas as systems engineering, hardware design, systems integration and testing. His accomplishments have included invention of a methodology and development of system requirements for operating the return path on cable networks; authorship or contributions to multiple books, technical journals and other resources, including co-authorship of “Broadband Return Systems for Hybrid Fiber/Coax Cable TV Networks;” and patents for Parallel Split Powering, Dynamic Upstream Attenuation for Ingress Noise Reduction, BiDirectional CATV System Having Losses for Equalizing Upstream Communication Gain and Thermoelectric Cooler Control Circuit. In 2012, he received the SCTE Excellence in Standards award.

Dean was valedictorian at Geneva College, where he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Mathematics. He received his M.S in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.
