SCTE Cable-Tec-ExpoBooth 1621Electroline (www.electroline.com) has long been in the addressable tap business, with millions of ports installed. The technology is now applied in headends and hubs for remote control and automation of service group monitoring. Set-top boxes and cable modems can be used as indicator of quality of service being delivered to service groups.Managing theft-of-service in transient and high subscriber density situations is an application for the addressable tap. It can also be used to identify set-tops that have migrated to unauthorized households. Using Electroline's addressable tap, addressable splitters and the new Model PAT-8 Addressable Switches can aid in the identification of misappropriated set-top boxes. The addressable product can be used as a tool to find set-top boxes, shut down the theft-of-service and aid in converting these customers to paying customers.
