ClearAccess, a provider of managed broadband solutions, completed a study of the market value of next-generation broadband applications. The first "ClearAccess Connected Home Experience Index" research white paper provides a look at specific price points and consumer willingness to purchase apps such as whole-home parental controls, home network remote access and home bandwidth optimization. The report indicates that ideal monthly prices for these applications range from $0.99 to $2.99 per application, and take rates vary based on factors such as number of Internet-connected devices in the home. One finding that stood out was that 21 percent of all consumers indicated willingness to pay a monthly fee for whole-home bandwidth monitoring, but that number increases to 41 percent for homes containing four to six Internet-enabled devices. The full paper is available at www.clearaccess.com/research/white-papers.
