Comcast Announces 305-Meg Web Tier

Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) has announced plans to launch Xfinity Platinum Internet in its Northeast division. The new speed tier is expected to offer downstream speeds of up to 305 Mbps and upstream speeds of up to 65 Mbps. Platinum customers will also receive Xfinity Signature Support, a wireless gateway, a dedicated Personal Communications Consultant, and the Constant Guard Security Suite.

The MSO also is doubling the speeds of two of its existing Internet tiers in certain markets at no additional cost. Xfinity Blast! customers will now get download speeds of up to 50 Mbps (formerly 25 Mbps), and Extreme 50 customers will now receive speeds of up to 105 Mbps (formerly 50 Mbps).

Comcast is launching the enhancements and new tier in Boston, Hartford, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Wilmington, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Richmond, and New Jersey.
