Cable Rakes in HSD Subs as Telcos Fade

According to a report issued by Fitch Ratings, the largest cable MSOs captured more than 84% of net high-speed data subscriber additions during 3Q'11, as HSD additions among the largest telephone companies fell 71% compared to last year. Many cable MSOs shifted their marketing focus during the third quarter to leverage their broadband product advantage to create new customer relationships among non-video homes within their respective service areas.

Approximately 3.7 million revenue generating units (RGUs) were added by the largest telecommunication service providers in 3Q'11, led by approximately 4.7 million wireless subscriber additions.
