Year 2 for 'Internet Essentials'

In Chicago, Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) kicked off Year 2 of its Internet Essentials program for low-income Americans. In its first full year of availability, nearly 400,000 Americans took advantage of the program, including nearly 7,000 families in Chicago alone.

For 2012, the MSO has made a number of program enhancements, including:

  • Expanded eligibility

  • Doubled broadband speeds

  • Upgraded free Internet safety software

  • Enriched digital literacy training

  • Streamlined approval process

  • Bulk order program
