President Obama has called for the FCC to adopt Title II utility-style regulation of the Internet as part of his Net Neutrality plan. The statement has generated negative responses from several industry groups, including the NCTA, ACA, TIA, CBIT, USTelecom, NetCompetition, Broadband for America and others.

Obama asked specifically for Title II regulation, saying in part, "I believe the FCC should reclassify consumer broadband service under Title II of the Telecommunications Act."

Other elements of the plan include bans on blocking, throttling and paid prioritization, as well as increased transparency into network connections.
