At the SCTE's Canadian Summit in March, Volicon will be showcasing its Observer Scout and Version 5.5 of its Observer RPM. The Scout is a video-assurance network monitoring device designed to enable cable/IPTV operators, NOC engineers or customer care engineers to perform quality checks at A/V service handoffs. It's intended for QoE-based content monitoring, video recording, remote viewing and troubleshooting of post-set-top A/V feeds. The 1-RU unit can record up to three days of SD or HD content, facilitates remote viewing of recorded video, and supports troubleshooting for A/V feeds. Equipped with solid-state storage, it includes an optional QoE module, a scheduled recording option, and Volicon's new Elemental Management Services software option, which is designed to enable centralized configuration and management of multiple units.Version 5.5 of the Observer Remote Program Monitor (RPM) leverages automated video monitoring tools that can emulate customer actions. Through a Web interface, the post-set-top-box solution allows operators to monitor hundreds of channels, troubleshoot real-time video issues, and verify content and advertising in an exportable 24/7 log. It's designed to help identify and troubleshoot problems with linear, on-demand, and interactive content before they turn into customer complaints. The new Element Management Services (EMS) module enables centralized configuration and alert management of multiple probes in a large operation. Version 5.5 also includes enhancements to the Interactive Services Module (ISM).
