Sumitomo brought DPoE System and DPoE ONU into the interoperability test. The company plans to release a DPoE capable system this year.

Since 2004, Sumitomo has developed and delivered Gigabit Ethernet PON (GE-PON) equipment in the FTTH equipment market to customers such as NTT, KDDI, Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom, PCCW and cable operators in Japan. In Japan, GE-PON is a dominant standard for FTTH and is the underlying networking technology within the DPoE specification. The company is looking to expand its sales efforts in North American FTTH markets.
