The Consumer Electronics Association has developed a new standard, CEA-2040, for MicroSD security devices. The MicroSD security device is designed to provide the same protection, but more functionality than CableCARD encryption technology. The MicroSD is smaller, has onboard storage capacity, and can be used with any device that has a MicroSD, SD or USB slot. It's intended to simplify the implementation and integration with set-top boxes, mobile technology and computer devices.
