Tek Sentry 300x180Tektronix is demonstrating its Sentry digital content monitor in the CableNET Pavilion of the Cable Show. This year's demos include Sentry's Perceptual Video Quality (PVQ) scoring system and ability to monitor enhanced television (ETV) and advanced advertising applications based on EBIF.

The PVQ scoring system is designed to gauge the severity of video errors caused by over-compression, which can be difficult to detect because the transport streams often appear error-free. Sentry can identify these errors due to its ability to monitor the sequence layer, the GOP layer, the picture layer, the slice layer, the macroblock layer and the block layer. When errors are detected, the system ranks them similarly to the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) system.

Tektronix is also demonstrating how cable operators can monitor their EBIF-based ETV and advanced advertising applications with Sentry. It's designed to simultaneously monitor hundreds of programs, ads and EBIF-widgets.
