Cox Communications has completed construction of two next-generation fuel cells totaling 800 kilowatts (kW), designed to generate enough onsite power to reduce the company's dependence on the local power grid and decrease its carbon footprint. Two separate 400 kW installations were completed at the company's San Diego headquarters. One fuel cell will provide 100% of the electrical load for one building, and the second fuel cell will provide nearly 60% of the electrical requirement for the main building.
