The technologies, services and innovative approaches that will power cable into the future were on exhibit and under discussion when the SCTE hosted its annual Canadian Summit in Toronto earlier this week.

Beginning with "Broadband Video: Challenge or Opportunity," a keynote address by Comcast EVP/CTO Tony Werner, the event featured a look at what is on the horizon for the industry. Panels addressed video architectures, access platforms and provisioning and management; other presentations targeted business services, FTTH, home networking and gateways, optimizing upstream capacity, and the transition to IPv6.

Attendance for the two-day event was approximately 700 and included an increased number of representatives from countries beyond North America. The event attracted 10 first-time vendor exhibitors, and a multi-screen video streaming solution from SeaChange International was named the "Technology Most Likely to Succeed" following the annual Technology Challenge.
