Called a "good, worthwhile product," and "user friendly," with lots of extras like storage and low loss, by one Diamonds Judge, the FOCIS WiFi completes an automatic analysis of fiber-optic connector integrity in 500 msec. AFL says this is 10 times faster than other inspection solutions. The company notes that more speed equals more connectors completed per hour, per man, per site.
The product is based on the mobile device model. A worker can capture an image and share it with a colleague for collaboration and guidance. Results can be sent to cloud-based or internal data storage systems. Fingerprints are created and stored for a comparison of as-built integrity of connections to as-found fingerprints. Roll-ups of documentation results for multi-site installations are easy to manage because each site team can capture, upload and store their work in a common file. Updating test and inspection equipment no longer requires scheduled returns. FOCIS WiFi users only need to connect to Google Play or the App Store to ensure they have the most recent version.
