    John Schanz, executive vice president and chief network officer of Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA), will serve as program committee chairman for the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2016 in Philadelphia. Next year's show is scheduled for Sept. 26-29 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

    Schanz, who will drive the creation of Expo 2016 content around advanced network technologies, improved customer experiences and energy management, succeeds Balan Nair, executive vice president and CTO of Liberty Global (NASDAQ:LBTYA), as program committee chair. Schanz and Nair are co-chairs of SCTE's Energy 2020 program, which is intended to drive double-digit percentage reductions in energy cost and consumption.

    Since joining Comcast in 2006, Schanz has overseen national engineering for network and systems operations for Comcast's video, high-speed Internet and voice services for both residential customers and businesses. He also plays a leadership role in technology strategy for the deployment of new, complementary communications products and services. Prior to joining Comcast in 2006, Schanz worked for AOL.
