UTOPIA Fiber has completed its $5.9 million fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) build in Cedar Falls, Utah. This project, which began construction in June 2022, will result in every residential home and business address accessing the fiber-based broadband service.
Cedar Hills is significant to UTOPIA in that it’s the 18th city where it now offers service. The first homes were seamlessly connected to the lit fiber network on August 10, 2023, and the entire project, including 2,656 residential addresses, was completed on September 8, 2023.
UTOPIA Fiber’s Open Access model enables multiple private-sector ISPs to compete, fostering a net-neutral environment that encourages free-market competition.
“Thanks to UTOPIA Fiber's comprehensive network build-out, our residents can now enjoy access to fast and reliable internet connections that make work, school, and online everything easy and accessible,” said Denise Andersen, Mayor of Cedar Hills City. “We are thrilled with the reaction from our residents and so happy to help move Cedar Hills into the digital future.”
Like all other UTOPIA Fiber projects, Cedar Falls has been funded and grown solely through subscriber revenue. The completion of this project further extends UTOPIA Fiber’s reach, providing residents with access to speeds up to 10 Gbps and 100 Gbps for businesses.
