ADTRAN (NASDAQ:ADTN) has notched two customer wins in Illinois and Maine.

In Illinois, CASSCOM is deploying ADTRAN broadband solutions from across the vendor's entire access portfolio for both carrier and cable service delivery.

ADTRAN is providing CASSCOMM with EPON OLTs for 1G EPON and 10G EPON fiber service delivery, and GPON and Active Ethernet fiber technologies for gigabit broadband service across its network. CASSCOMM is initially targeting a 550-home residential network build with its new fiber services, to be followed by a three-city turnup over the next 12 months - culminating with an upgrade to the remaining 29 communities that CASSCOMM serves.

"Our commitment to provide our community with the services it needs goes all the way back to 1898, and we've known throughout our history that the best service solutions will always depend on partnering with the right companies," CASSCOMM COO Tom Allen said. "We needed to ensure our customers had the access and services required in today's digital marketplace, and ADTRAN provided the domain expertise, broad set of innovative technologies and commitment to customer support we needed to meet and exceed our customers' expectations."

In Maine, Pioneer Broadband is partnering with Downeast Broadband Utility to bring high-speed Internet service to underserved communities in rural Maine. Pioneer Broadband is building an open-access fiber infrastructure in the towns of Baileyville and Calais using ADTRAN technology. Downeast, a nonprofit broadband utility, contracted with Pioneer to design and build the new network. ADTRAN is supplying its TA5000 GPON solution.

"We have had a trusted relationship with ADTRAN for years and knew they would be the right partner," CEO of Pioneer Broadband Tim McAfee said. "We also knew that ADTRAN would not only bring the right people, ADTRAN would bring the right technology and expertise for this important project."
