AT&T (NYSE:T) has deployed its AT&T Fiber service in the Tulsa, OK, area, including parts of Tulsa, Jenks, Owasso and surrounding communities. The near-gigabit (typical downstream speeds are 940 Mbps, the company says) FTTH service is available to single-family homes, apartments and small business locations.
As in other markets, the service's top Internet speed tier, AT&T Fiber 1000, is $80 a month standalone for the first year, then bumps up to $90 a month. Double- and triple-play bundles are available with voice and video from either DirecTV or AT&T U-verse TV.
"High-speed Internet has quickly become a preferred way to access information and communicate," said Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum. "I am glad to see this investment from AT&T, and am certain that the increased ability to tout Tulsa's connectivity to fiber internet further strengthens the reputation of our community."
AT&T Fiber is currently available 55 metro areas, and the company plans to continue expanding its availability to at least 75 metro areas by mid-2019. Other recent AT&T Fiber deployments include parts of Monterey-Salinas, CA, and Wilmington, NC. The company first launched the near-gigabit service, originally dubbed U-verse with GigaPower, in Austin, TX, in 2014.
