Canadian Internet service provider Urban Communications (TSX VENTURE:UBN) has launched a private beta test of an IPTV service to select residences in Burnaby and Coquitlam, BC.
The beta launch includes access to 251 channels of HD and SD video. The basic package includes 90 channels of which 35 are HD, for $29 per month, as well as the ability to watch live TV on most Android mobile devices. The beta period is expected to last through Q1 of 2016 with a full launch of the IPTV service and availability to all Urbanfibre Internet subscribers expected in the second quarter of 2016.
Urban Communications provides Internet, voice, video and broadband over a fiber network in metro Vancouver and Victoria. The company recently launched gigabit Internet service.
