Sumitomo Electric Lightwave has introduced its next generation Lynx2-PLUS CustomFit Splice-On Connectors, intended for on-site fiber terminations for data center, enterprise network, FTTx, and fiber distribution hub applications.

The Lynx2-PLUS is designed to keep termination time for 2 mm and 3 mm cord applications to about 2 minutes (250 um and 900 um in 96 seconds or less). The new connectors no longer require furcation tubing for 2 mm and 3 mm applications.

The connectors are designed to be compatible with all SC, LC, FC and STstyle fiber optic connectors and provide APC, UPC, and PC (MMF) polishing options. They are designed to yield average insertion losses of 0.15 dB for single-mode fiber and 0.10 dB for multimode fiber.
