At the 2015 FTTH Connect event in Anaheim, CA, TE Connectivity (NYSE:TEL) is showcasing the first of a new line of fiber distribution hubs designed for higher fiber counts, smaller footprint and improved mounting options. Products on display include the FDH 4000 and FDH 3000.
The FDH 4000 is intended to connect feeder and distribution cables via optical splitters in the FTTH network. It features 144 distribution ports, nine splitter ports and 72 pass-through ports. It's environmentally sealed for protection from water and mud and is intended for installation above or below grade, as well as on a strand. It features TE's hardened fiber optic splice closure (FOSC) and the cable management features found in all legacy TE FDH solutions, including all-front access.
The FDH 3000 enclosure now offers twice the splitter capacity of its predecessor, up to 48 splitter slots. Other upgrades include new mounting options, including a bottom-entry cable design and side mounting brackets for pole and pad mount applications.
