Altice USA (NYSE: ATUS), via its Optimum brand, will soon launch Optimum 5 Gig Fiber Internet services to residences in the New York Tri-State area. The cable MSO asserts the symmetrical 5-Gbps service will offer more than twice the transmission rate as its competitors, which include Verizon.
Simultaneously, Optimum also has unveiled its Optimum 2 Gig Fiber Internet. Both multi-gig service tiers will be offered first in parts of Long Island beginning in June. Altice USA and Optimum expect the services to be available to all its customers in the New York Tri-State area by the end of this year.
In addition to the higher speeds, Optimum also is touting lower latency for gaming and support for video streaming up to 8K. The operator is pairing these connections with its Smart WiFi 6 whole home WiFi coverage.
“As we continue to expand our new 100% Optimum Fiber Internet network across our footprint, we are pleased to bring the fastest residential fiber internet service to the tri-state area,” commented Altice USA CEO Dexter Goei. “Customers on our Optimum Fiber network are already enjoying fast, symmetrical speeds and a reliable connectivity experience, and we look forward to bringing even faster service with more bandwidth than ever before with our 5 Gig and 2 Gig Optimum Fiber Internet speeds.”
Optimum 5 Gig Fiber Internet will be available to new customers for $180/month and 2 Gig Fiber Internet will be priced at $120/month.
