Technetix Group Ltd. has announced its acquisition of privately held Lindsay Broadband Inc. for an undisclosed sum. The deal expands Technetix’s product set, particularly in broadband wireless gateways and network power, as well as expands the company’s presence in the Americas.
Lindsay Broadband, which is based in Peterborough ON, Canada, will retain its name and operate as a division of Technetix with the existing management team, including President David Atman, staying in place, according to Technetix CEO Paul Broadhurst. The new assets should grow the company’s revenues by about 25%, he said, as well as distribute revenues more evenly between the Americas and Europe.
The two companies have little product overlap, Broadhurst added. He highlighted Lindsay Broadband’s fiber transmitters and nodes and passives, as well as technology for connecting multiple dwelling units (MDUs), as being of particular interest in the wireline world as well as the wireless gateways and power technology for WiFi and mobile base stations. With cable operators building out infrastructure in the HFC, fiber, and wireless domains, the acquisition puts Technetix in position to address all three areas, Broadhurst believes.
Technetix and Lindsay Broadband also should be able to help each other geographically, Broadhurst stated. While Technetix has operations in Denver and Mexico City, the new acquisition will provide additional presence and resources in the Americas – particularly Latin America, where Lindsay has close relationships with Tier 1 operators, Broadhurst said. The addition of Lindsay Broadband should be of particular help in marketing Technetix’s PON remote optical line terminal (OLT), he hopes. Meanwhile, Technetix should boost sales of Lindsay Broadband’s products outside of the Americas, particularly in Europe and Australia.
Broadhurst said that he remains open for further acquisitions, including carve outs of business units from other companies.
