Viaero upgrades mobile network to IP, DWDM fiber transport services

New deployments will see the Fort Morgan, CO -based service provider Viaero upgrade its mobile network support infrastructure from microwave and leased services to an IP and DWDM architecture.

Ribbon Communications Inc. (NASDAQ: RBBN) says that Viaero Wireless and Viaero Fiber Networks will deploy the technology provider’s Neptune and Apollo systems, as well as its Muse domain controller. The deployments will see the Fort Morgan, CO -based service provider Viaero upgrade its mobile network support infrastructure from microwave and leased services to an IP and DWDM architecture.

Use of the Neptune platform will enable MPLS transport, while the Apollo systems will meet Viaero’s DWDM requirements. Together with the Muse platform, they support gigabit and 10G aggregation over 200G optical transport, scalable to 400G.

The systems also enable provide network performance monitoring, analytics, fiber monitoring via an automated OTDR, and service level agreement (SLA) management.

Besides meeting its own needs, with the deployment Viaero will be able to offer mobile backhaul services to other MNOs.
