Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR) is launching Spectrum Business Internet Gig in New York City, featuring the deployment of DOCSIS 3.1 Internet services delivering a 1 Gbps connection for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Priced starting at $249.99 per month for new customers with no modem fees or data caps, Spectrum Business Internet Gig is now available to SMBs in more than 30 markets, representing more than half of Spectrum Business' service area. The service is expected to be available throughout nearly all of Spectrum's 41-state service area by the end of 2018.

"Spectrum Business' state-of-the-art, fiber-rich network allows us to deploy dramatically faster business broadband speeds, including gigabit connections, broadly and rapidly," said Tom Rutledge, Charter Communciations chairman and CEO. "As business demand for bandwidth and capacity continues to grow, our world-class network is best-positioned to meet these demands, today and into the future."

Spectrum Business Internet Gig includes a modem, customer WiFi for businesses with public seating or lobby areas, custom domain and email addresses, cloud backup and desktop security software at no additional charge. Spectrum Business Internet also comes with no contracts or taxes and is backed by a 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee.

Earlier this week, Charter announced the expansion of its residential DOCSIS 3.1 Internet services to an additional 4 million homes passed.
