Casa Adds CCAP Functionality to CMTS

Casa Systems launched a downstream module designed to add Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) functionality to its C10G CMTS. The new module is intended to enable MSOs to deploy DOCSIS, IPTV and MPEG video on a single chassis from day one.The DS8x96 module is designed to delivers 96 channels per port, including 32 channels of narrowcast and 64 channels of broadcast for a total of 768 channels per module. With the possibility of 11 primary DS8x96 modules and one protection module in a C10G, a combination of more than 8,000 narrowcast and broadcast channels can be supported in the downstream direction within the C10G.
