ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) has announced its first DOCSIS 3.1 modems for operators and retailers.
Altice (Euronext:ATC), which recently bought Suddenlink, has selected ARRIS' (NASDAQ:ARRS) E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER) to enable the delivery of gigabit Internet services. Altice plans deploy the E6000 with SFR in France and Orange-Tricom in the Dominican Republic, and it plans to expand the E6000 footprint in its Suddenlink markets. The CCAP-based E6000 is designed to support DOCSIS 3.0 and to provide an upgrade path to DOCSIS 3.1.

"Altice is fast-becoming a major player in the global pay TV market, and it's an exciting time for ARRIS to be collaborating with operators from the Altice Group around the world. Selecting the ARRIS E6000 CER is a strategic technology investment for Altice that benefits its global operations today and into the future," said Bruce McClelland, president of Network & Cloud, Global Services at ARRIS. "These deployments further cement the ARRIS E6000 CER as the leading CCAP solution for operators who want the best technology to meet the crucial demand for higher broadband speeds as more and more devices become connected in the home."
