Harmonic's VOS 360 Cloud Media Processing Service is a software-as-a-service solution hosted in the public cloud, but monitored and maintained by Harmonic. This reduces the amount of equipment an operator needs to purchase and the labor force that needs to be hired in order to implement time-shift TV, VOD and cloud DVR. A new OTT service can be launched in hours, instead of months, and pay-as-you-go pricing allows service providers to realize ROI in a short time period, Harmonic says.

The VOS 360 service is powered by the Harmonic PURE Compression Engine, which supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, and HEVC codecs and SD, HD, and UltraHD content formats, including constant, variable and adaptive bitrate streaming. VOS 360 features a simple, intuitive GUI that helps with contributing content via a live feed or VOD library. The UI provides insight into the entire content contribution, processing and delivery process, using a common interface, accessible from anywhere.
