Vantrix announced new features in its Vantrix Media Platform intended to power just-in-time (JIT) transcoding at the network edge for live-to-VOD services. The new functionality is designed to enable time-shifted delivery for live, start-over and catch-up TV, as well as integration with YouTube, Social TV and Internet radio services.

Vantrix Media Platform is a software-defined platform for video processing, optimization, caching and analytics. It's available for deployment on-premises or in the cloud. Built on OpenStack for virtualization, it offers a modular, pluggable and extensible architecture for video transcoding and optimizing media via adaptive bitrate streaming for delivery to TVs, PCs and mobile devices. Vantrix will be demonstrating the platform at NAB 2015 in Las Vegas.

The company also announced that its open transcoding pipeline now supports Vanguard Video's V.265 HEVC software codec.
