Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) and multinational ISP Cogent Communications (NASDAQ:CCOI] have entered into a long-term, bilateral interconnection agreement for their public IP networks. The agreement allows the exchange of Internet traffic in a scalable and reliable manner to accommodate the growing use of the Internet.

Cogent delivers Internet, Ethernet and colocation services to more than 48,900 enterprise and NetCentric customers. The company serves more than 190 markets in 42 countries across its facilities-based, all-optical IP network. Cogent, based in Washington DC, started operations in 1999. Its primary service offering consists of Internet access and data transport, offered over its IP data-only network, along with colocation in any of its 50 Internet data centers. It serves two customer segments: "Corporate" (small businesses to Fortune 100 companies) and "NetCentric" (carriers/service providers and application/content providers, whose businesses rely primarily on Internet access).
