CommScope has unveiled its line of Touchstone TG644x DOCSIS 3.1 cable gateways. In addition to supporting WiFi 6, the gateways support the company’s Low Latency DOCSIS capabilities. CommScope asserts it already has customers for the box.
The Touchstone TG644x will support high-split architectures with a switched diplexer to enable deployment flexibility and support of upstream bandwidth increases. CommScope foresees the gateways supporting residential and small business customers.
“By deploying the new TG644x gateways, service providers are providing subscribers with the confidence they will not drop a video call or miss an online lesson,” said Ken Haase, vice president, product management at CommScope. “Gamers will be able to take advantage of lower latency, thus giving them the competitive edge by reducing lag or buffering.”
The gateways are designed to support the delivery of multi-gigabit services. They can be paired with CommScope’s X5 Wi-Fi 6 extender to spread such bandwidth across the home or business while enabling managed WiFi capabilities. Operators also can manage the gateways with CommScope’s HomeAssure Managed Wi-Fi line or via SNMP and TR-069 remote management protocols as well as CommScope’s ECO Service Management portfolio.
“With more people working and learning from home, all their connected devices are placing increased demand on the home network,” Haase added. “With the enhanced performance and connectivity of our new Wi-Fi 6 gateways, service providers can provide their subscribers with the ability to connect more devices to their network with enhanced reliability.”
The Touchstone TG644x DOCSIS 3.1 cable gateways will be among the Low Latency DOCSIS products CommScope plans to highlight during the virtual SCTE·ISBE Cable-Tec Expo from October 11-14, 2021 and the IBC 2021 Show from December 3-6, 2021 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
