Midco is now offering its DOCSIS 3.1-based Midco Xstream Gig Internet service to its Grand Forks, ND, service area, including 16 surrounding communities.

"Midco Xstream Gig uses our state-of-the-art network to provide super-fast, reliable speeds through a modem. The video gamer in Buxton or the multiple device-owning family of five in Grand Forks will love Midco Xstream Gig," said Midco EVP and CFO Steve Grosser.

The 1 Gbps service, which is available to both residential and business customers, debuted in Fargo, ND, and is also available in Sioux Falls, SD. Midco's goal for the year is to deploy DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit in 80% of its markets. The service is based on Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) cBR-8 CCAP gear, as well as modems from ARRIS (NASDAQ:ARRS) and Hitron Technologies.
