Evolution Digital has reached an agreement with Alaskan cable operator GCI (NASDAQ:GNCMA) to deploy its managed eVUE-TV IP video solution in some service regions.

Last November, Evolution and GCI inked a deal under which the operator would deploy Evolution's eBOX set-top box powered by TiVo. eVUE-TV is available on the IP hybrid set-top as an integrated IP VOD platform that is aggregated with live linear channels, OTT apps and pay-per-view. It's launched through a TiVo user interface and also features Conax' multi-DRM content security for multiscreen viewing.

"We are excited to announce that GCI customers will have access to the best video on demand content through an advanced IP video platform with a pricing model that makes sense to the operator," said Marc Cohen, executive vice president at Evolution Digital. "Transitioning to an IP video platform sets the stage for GCI's continued growth by capturing new revenue and expanding to new markets."

"We look forward to working with Evolution Digital, leveraging their expertise and ability to provide a low-cost solution that will deliver GCI's next generation IP video on demand service," said Eric Powelson, senior product manager of video at GCI. "Aggregating the most popular content available in the market today, including live pay-per-view, via a seamless and easy-to-use interface, eVUE-TV will represent the first step in our transition to IP video. Additionally, the solution plays a key role in our efforts to reduce costs by integrating Evolution Digital's eBOX."

GCI is the 15th operator to sign up for eVUE-TV. Last July, Evolution made the solution available to NCTC members and expanded that relationship in April.
